With the rise of skincare trending on social media, more and more people are finding new and better products to take care of their skin. From firsthand experience, I can say that women seem to know more about skincare than men. Therefore, I am bringing men skincare tips right here at JKK Space.

The first piece of advice I will share are three basic MUST-HAVES. Everyone has skin, regardless of gender so these are products you should be using daily. You must have a face wash (this can be oil-based or water-based depending on your skin type), a moisturiser and SPF. SPF is vital for protection against UVA and UVB rays, not to mention that it also reduces sun damage and skin cancer.

An extra step to add is using a chemical exfoliator: exfoliating removes dead skin cells that build up and rejuvenates the skin. Our skin naturally sheds dead skin cells approximately every 30 days, when this happens, new skin cells form the top layers of your skin. It also removes any dark spots or acne marks that are left on the skin. Not to mention that it will improve skin texture.

Finding the right exfoliant is the next step, which heavily depends on your skin type. For instance, if you have oily skin you may find that saliyclic acid works better for you, whereas if you have dry skin, you may want to try AHAs (Alpha Hydroxy Acid) like glycolic acid. Another thing to bear in mind is that People of Colour are more sensitive to AHAs and so we may opt for BHAs (Beta Hydroxy Acid) and PHAs (Polyhydroxy Acids) as they are friendlier to the skin. Some products include Cerave’s salicylic acid and The Inkey List’s PHA toner.
