With new shows to stream currently being produced at Amazon Prime delivery speed on so many different platforms, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or outright lost as to how to find a good quality watch. But guys, this is exactly why I love summer! The stretched-out days provide the perfect opportunity to revisit classics at your local outdoor cinema or find a fresh film to obsess over with friends.

Below, Harry, Simi and I share some of our favourite and upcoming picks with you guys so that you can do just that this summer:

Harry's Top 3 Summer Picks

"Dirty Dancing"

Released in 1987, this romantic drama takes us on a journey with Frances "Baby" Houseman (Jennifer Grey) as she experiences the perfect summer romance at a resort in 1963. With its uplifting storytelling and unforgettable performances, "Dirty Dancing" is a must-watch that will leave you feeling inspired and uplifted, all thanks to its electrifying dance sequences and iconic soundtrack.

“Grease”

Released in 1978, "Grease" follows the love story between good-girl Sandy Olsson and greaser bad-boy Danny Zuko at Rydell High School in the summer of 1959. Filled with catchy sing-along tunes, vibrant nostalgia and joyous celebration of young love, this film is perfect for summer viewing.

“Murder Mystery”

Okay, I had to throw a more modern one in there for you Netflix lovers. Released in 2019, “Murder Mystery” follows a couple who find themselves entangled in a glamorous and treacherous web of intrigue, making it an absolute must-watch for the agile minded this summer.

Rita's Top 3 Summer Picks

"The Prestige"

Two magicians (the amazing Christian Bale and Hugh Jackman) test the limits of truth and deception in a battle to become the greatest illusionist. This is a Christopher Nolan piece, so obviously mind bending, cinematically beautiful and creative - need I say more?

"Whiplash"

Here we follow a young man’s harrowing journey to become one of the ‘greats’ in the jazz music scene. This is a gripping movie that keeps you on edge the whole time, with amazing, career defining performances from Miles Teller and J. K Simmons.

"Ratatouille"

A Disney animation depicting the budding bond between a gifted rat with an awkward, amateur chef. This is an instant family-friendly classic; very funny, mouthwatering animations of food and everything happens with a beautiful backdrop behind (Paris!).

Simi's Top 3 Summer Picks

"Barbie"

Arguably the most anticipated movie of 2023. The movie is a mystery take on Barbie in modern times and includes a star studded cast. I can’t wait to see Greta Gerwig’s take on this in July!

"The Marvels"

Who doesn’t wanna see an all-female superhero movie? I’m excited to see the fabulous trio; Brie Larson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris, team up and solve mysteries.

"Wonka"

I believe everyone is interested to see Timothée Chalamet’s take on a young Willy Wonka. I am manifesting that his performance lives up to our imagination of what a young Wonka should be. I can’t wait to see what adventures the movies takes us through!
